This is a satellite image of Minnesota on a clear day in late March 2001. Those are not clouds that you see. That is actual snow on the ground. The Minneapolis / St. Paul metro area shows up in darker color, as does St. Cloud, MN to the northwest of there. The frozen lakes are clearly visible in Central and northern Minnesota.
